  • Potting mix: needs a manure-rich, well-draining soil.
  • Ratio: soil : compost : dry leaves : sand = 30:30:30:10.
  • Sowing method: plant directly in the ground, or in a 15 inch (diameter) by 18-20 inch (height) pot, with 6-8 hours of sunlight.
  • It can be grown close to a compound wall since its roots don't spread much laterally.
  • Once established, it needs very little watering.

Known as the 'tree of heaven', with references across Hindu mythology. It's a brittle tree with very beautiful, delicate flowers, and even fallen blossoms are considered fit to offer to the gods.

  • A 'kadha' (decoction) made from the leaves has traditional pain-relieving properties.
